By Chris Webster. “Webster is a printmaker who explores his
own
subconscious through the technique of collage. His imagery is culled
from historical photographs, magazines illustrations and 19th century
Victorian prints, which he alters and reworks to create strange,
often unsettling pictures of contemporary states of mind” The
Baltimore Sun. These hauntingly unique images are created using
acrylics, oils and oil pastels on photographic paper; the collection
is derived from Christopher’s interest in mystery as an undefined
process in its own rig. Garter Lane Arts Centre, 5 O’Connell

Gardens of Earthly Delight
‘The Gardens of Earthly Delight’, on tour from the Chester
Beatty
Library in Dublin Castle, is a unique exhibition of limited edition
prints and a collaborative project between the Library and the
Graphic Studio Dublin’s print workshop. Irish and international
artists have been invited to explore The Chester Beatty Library’s
collection focusing on garden and related imagery, which express
man’s spiritual and physical need to create, cultivate and depict
gardens. The common theme is the garden as terrestrial paradise, a
refuge and a place of spiritual solace – a Garden of Eden. In
all,
thirty-nine artists, including William Crozier, Elizabeth Blackadder,
Christopher le Bruin, Carmel Benson, Gwen O’Dowd, Hughie O’Donoghue
and Brian Bourke have made a limited edition print. Dyehouse Gallery,
Mary Street.

Mum’s The Word
Mum’s The Word is a tell-it-like-it-is comedy about the trials
and
tribulations of having children, and the overwhelming effect they
have on your life. Starring Veronica Guerin and The Clinic actress
Charlotte Bradley; Lisa-Ann McLoughlin of Fair City; Brianna
Corrigan, a former member of The Beautiful South; Glenroe actress
and
playwright Isobel Mahon; Upwardly Mobile’s Jenny Maher and Eileen
Gibbons of Foreign Exchange. Humorous, emotional, ecstatic and
hysterical, Mum’s The Word is a chorus line of confessional
anecdotes
and vignettes combined to create the mother of all comedies. Without
the rose-coloured lens treatment, Mum’s The Word is a hilarious,
intimate look at motherhood. Six mums tell stories you have not heard
before - stories too embarrassing, too personal to tell even their
closest friends, but based on experiences all mothers share. It is
group therapy like never before. 8pm. Tickets e25/20/15. Bookings:
051 874402. Theatre Royal, The Mall.
