An exhibition by Brendan Butler and Niall Murphy. Both young
Waterford artists have been resident at the Garter Lane studios for a
number of years and this is their first joint exhibition together.

Spraoi 2006
Ireland’s largest street theatre festival, also featuring world
music. On the August Bank Holiday weekend Spraoi transforms the city
centre into one gigantic stage, and fills it with international
street theatre and world music. There’s something for everyone, and
it’s all Free!
Highlights for 2006 include the first ever appearance in Ireland of
the Drummers of Burundi, powerful percussion from one of the greatest
ensembles in the world. Other music highlights include Freshly
Ground from South Africa, and RSL, a devasting nine piece playing the
funkiest Latin-Jazz. Street theatre includes several Irish
premieres, including French company Delits de Façade, Trukitek from
Spain, and a brand new show by Dot Comedy. Aerial acts include Fidget
Feet, Tumble Circus and Upswing.
The Spraoi Parade ’06, “WAAARGH”, featuring over 300 costumed
performers, gigantic floats, lights and special effects takes place
on Sunday evening, followed by the closing finale firework display.

PERFORMING ARTS SUMMER SCHOOL AT GARTER LANE AND THE ARCH
Experienced youth arts practitioners from Waterford Youth Arts will
lead an action-packed week of drama, dance, art, storytelling, film
and video production for 4 to 11 year olds. The Summer School is
designed to be full of fun and creativity, and aims to build
confidence, encourage teamwork, inclusion and participation. Everyone
is welcome. The School will finish with a “Sharing” for parents,
guardians, friends and families. All are invited to come along and
see what has been achieved over the week. For further information or

July 31 to August 4
Sprog
Theatre! Dance! Art! Puppets! Music! This is the 7th year that SprOg,
the pre-Spraoi festival, bursts on to the Waterford scene with lively
and engaging entertainment for 5-8 year olds. The theme this year is
“Life Journeys”, an exploration of identity and a
celebration of diversity through theatre, art, music and dance. Shows
twice daily, with workshops, exhibitions and much much more. Tickets
