Theatre & Opera

April 4 & 5
Tick My Box!
Returning after a very successful national tour are Carmel Stephens
and Iseult Golden in the Inis Theatre production in association with
Ten.42 Productions of this smash-hit play. Birds do it, bees do it,
even scary psychopaths do it...“Tick my Box” is an unflinching look
at the dark side of love. How do you get to meet that really special
someone in the fast and furious, impersonal modern day world? Welcome
to Speed Dating…Inis Theatre focuses its warped lens on the bleakly
comic world of love and those who want it… taking on the three-minute
mating game for the curious, the desperate and the deranged. It’s
Blind Date meets Blue Velvet and it will make you cry with laughter,
and what better place to have it then in the Bowery Bar on the Mall,
Waterford! 8pm. Tickets e12.50 & e10 (concs & Friends of Garter
Lane). Bookings: 051 874402. Garter Lane @ The Bowery Bar, The Mall.

April 20
Adolf
The Führer’s bunker, Berlin 1945, the air is thick with betrayal as
Hitler awaits the inevitable collapse of Berlin. The 20th Century’s
most notorious tyrant is daringly and divisively brought to the stage
in one of the most successful and powerful solo works ever presented.
Pip Utton, looking uncomfortably like the Fuhrer, stands before a
huge Nazi banner addressing his party faithful. He furnishes his
audience with an acute anatomy of fascism; its ideological
justifications; its poisoned utopias. They are in the presence of an
utterly compelling idealist, and are helplessly drawn in to his
warped logic. Hitler’s final performance seems over as he settles
into pre-suicidal contemplation. We know the rest. But Utton has
reserved a sting for his tale... A sting so powerful that it pushes
the audience into looking within themselves to question their own
prejudices and intolerance. 8pm. Tickets e12.50 & e10 (concs &
Friends of Garter Lane). Bookings: 051 874402. Garter Lane @ The
Granary.

April 3 to 9
Whistle Down the Wind
Presented by Flaggy Lane Productions. A young girl discovers a man
wanted for murder hiding in her family’s barn. When she asks him who
he is, he says Jesus Christ. The girl and her siblings are convinced
that he is Jesus and try to hide him from the grown-ups. Based on the
much loved film, Whistle Down The Wind is an extraordinary and
uplifting tale about the transforming power of love. Based on the
novel by Mary Hayley Bell. 8pm, matinees Sat & Sun. Family Nights Mon/
Tues/Wed, 4 or more e15 each, other wise e20 (e10 for the gods).
Bookings: 051 874402. Theatre Royal, The Mall.

April 28 & 29
I DREAMT I DWELT IN MARBLE HALLS
A beautiful and emotive love story, inspired by Bryan Gallagher’s
true story about ‘Mad Madelyn Ingram’ and the myths that surrounded
her. To Daniel, a young boy of the village, she is the bedraggled
hermit from whom he collects the buttermilk once a week. But village
talk is of how she was once the belle of the county, and had the pick
of any man around. What was her real story? And is it her real story,
or just another Celtic Tale? 8pm. Tickets e18/15. Bookings: 051
874402. Theatre Royal, The Mall.
