Troubleshooting - Standard Nokia Phone on Meteor
I ordered the application, but I didn't receive a link
On some phones, the 'WAP Push' link that we send is not stored in your ordinary text inbox. Instead, it is delivered to a separate inbox called the 'Service Inbox'. Please check this inbox for the message.
Menu > Web/Services > Service Inbox
Occasionally, messages are not delivered because your phone is not set up to accept them. This can be changed using the following menus:
Menu > Web/Services > Settings > Service Inbox Settings
- Set 'Service Messages' to 'On'
If you're still having trouble getting the link, just text MOVIES to 57252 again. On rare occasions, the message may not be delivered. You will not be double-charged.
I downloaded the application, but I can't find it on my phone
The application will usually be stored under one of the following menus:
Menu > Applications > Collection > Select Application
Menu > Applications > Collection
Menu > Applications
I downloaded the application, but it won't connect to the Internet
In order for your phone to connect to the internet, it has to use a thing called an 'access point'. Some Nokia phones require you to use your operator's 'internet' access point to access the web instead of the WAP access point that you use for your normal mobile browsing. Because of this, the Whazon Cinema Guide may not be able to connect without some small configuration changes to your phone. Unfortunately, in addition to making these changes, Meteor customers are not set up by default to use the Internet Access Point, so you may have to call them to set it up.
Changing the configuration on your phone:
Settings -> Configuration -> Personal Configuration Settings ->
Add New -> Access Point ('Services' on some models)
Account Name: Meteor Data
Access Point Settings->
Data Bearer: Packet Data/GPRS
(Select 'Bearer Settings' on some models)
Packet Data/GPRS Access Point: data.mymeteor.ie
Authentication Type: Normal
Username: my
Password: meteor
> Save
> Options -> Activate
> Preferred Access Point -> Meteor Data
> Activate default in all apps
Try your application again to see if it connects. If it does, great! If not, you will have to call Meteor.
Contacting Meteor
Call Meteor on 1905 from your mobile. The call center is used to dealing with queries for WAP settings, so you will have to explain to them that you don't want WAP or MMS settings, you want to use your phone as a modem.
- Tell them that you want your account to be activated for ISP access
- If they are still unsure of what you're referring to, say that you want your account provisioned for ISP access on the HLR by the technical team
- You do not need them to send you the settings, since you have already set these up.
They may tell you that access to the internet via ISP is very expensive, but they are referring to the situation where you are using the internet wirelessly from a Laptop. In fact it is just one-quarter of the normal cost (0.5c vs. 2c per KB). Do not let them put you off. We have tested this successfully a number of times.
