POETRY REVIVAL
White House Poetry Revival presents Les Murray. One of Australia’s leading poets and one of the greatest contemporary poetry writer in English. His work has been published in ten languages. He is regarded as a national poet, the voice - or a voice - of Australia.
Also reading will be Gabriel Fitzmaurice, Dr Desmond O’Grady , Louis DePaor and Evelyn Cosgrave.
The evening will be preceded at 7.30pm by a Wine reception kindly sponsored by Grants of Ireland.

The New York production of Porgy and Bess has visited over 500 cities on six continents in the last 14 years and is the bedrock of this sensational new fully-costumed concert performance. TOM CREAN - ANTARCTIC EXPLORER

Aidan Dooley tells the heroic tale of Tom Crean (1877 – 1938), the intrepid, Irish Antarctic explorer and the only man to serve with Scott and Shackleton on three famous expeditions: – Discovery, (1901 – 1904); Terra Nova (1910 – 1913); and Endurance (1914 - 1916). Tom Crean’s story, a testament of human fortitude against all the elements of Antarctica, is brought to life in this dramatic solo performance. Crean’s 36 mile solitary trek to base camp, during the Terra Nova expedition, to rescue his comrades Teddy Evans and William Lashly has been described by Antarctic historians as “the finest feat of individual heroism from the entire age of exploration”. He was subsequently awarded the Albert Medal for his bravery. Actor/writer/director Aidan Dooley performed Tom Crean – Antarctic Explorer at the New York International Fringe Festival where the show received rave reviews and won the Best Solo Performance Award.

ANTHONY MARWOOD with THE IRISH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
Piazzolla's The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires is a tango spin on Vivaldi's famous concertos and promises to be a high-spirited showpiece for the Irish Chamber Orchestra. This is coupled with one of Vivaldi's best-known concertos and Ginastera's energetic and powerful Concerto for Strings. The orchsetra will be directed by acclaimed violinist Athony Marwood, incoming Artistic Director of the ICO.

THE GLASS MENAGERIE
Set in St. Louis in the 1930s, The Glass Menagerie tells the story of the Wingfield family - Tom, torn between his obligation to his family and his desire to break away, his overbearing mother Amanda, and his frail sister Laura. Under pressure from his mother Tom brings home a Gentleman Caller to meet Laura, but things have a way of not quite working out for the Wingfields. The Glass Menagerie is a contemporary classic. Island's production stars Geraldine Plunkett, perhaps best known for her performance as Mary McDermott-Moran in Glenroe. Also appearing in the production are Paul Meade, Susie Lamb and Liam O'Brien, star of Emmerdale.

COLIN MURPHY
In 2004 Colin Murphy was voted Ireland's second favourite comedian, losing
out to Tommy Tiernan. His regular appearances on "The Panel" and his own tv show "The Blizzard of Odd" have ensured that he has built up a loyal and dedicated following. His style is loved by all. He's a storyteller meshed with cutting northern sarcasm. It makes for a comedian that is comfortable delivering wonderful material and capable of dispatching the most vociferous of hecklers with consummate ease!

DES BISHOP
FITTING IN TOUR
Firmly established as a major force on Ireland’s comedy circuit, comedian Des Bishop will be in University Concert Hall with his third nationwide stand-up comedy tour, Fitting In. This follows on from his hugely successful Previously Unreleased Material tour last autumn and will visit over 15 venues nationwide. It focuses on some of Des’s experiences filming his hotly anticipated new RTE documentary, which features the comedian teaching stand-up comedy whilst living in a range of marginalized communities.
Des’s explosive brand of comedy continues to draw on his efforts to fit into his adopted country, as he takes another hard look at modern Ireland. Fitting In promises to be a hilarious and energetic look at just how well Des fits or fails to fit into the margins of Irish society as well as the different communities and indeed personalities he encounters along the way!

POETRY: CUISLE INTERNATIONAL POETRY FESTIVAL
Cuisle 2005, Limerick’s International Poetry Festival features local, national and international poets. The festival aims to bring poetry to a wider audience through readings, workshops, open mic sessions, book launches and debate, a dedicated festival brochure of all events will be published and available through Belltable. Each day readings will take place at 2pm and 8pm at the Belltable Arts Centre. This year also sees the publication of the 30th Anniversary Publication of The Stony Thursday Book and Shedman, John Davies a writer and poet who is inspired by all kinds of sheds will bring his shed to Limerick and interact with people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds, introducing Limerick audiences to a new kind of visitor attraction!
