Sisters by Declan Hasset
8 p.m. Hailed by the press, as magnetic and breathtaking, Anna Mahanan has created two extraordinary and different portraits of the Clooney Sisters - Martha and Mary. The play is full of earthy country humour mixed with gentle pathos, creating an evening of theatre that will be remembered for years to come.

Declan Hassett’s powerful account of life in rural Ireland in the 1950s and 60’s brings to life in the hands of Anna Manahan not just the Sisters themselves, but a whole village, from the postman to the Parish Priest and the schools to the dancehalls. The stunning virtuosity of the performance is a match for the broad earthy humour of Martha’s vitality which is in contrasted with the fragile insecurity and sensitivity of her sister Mary.

“Anna Manahan delivers with relish.” The Irish Times
“Anna Manahan is quite genuinely extraordinary.” Irish Examiner

Under Milk Wood
Under Milk Wood by Island Theatre Company - 8 p.m. Island Theatre Company brings you something very special this Spring...... a new production of Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood.

Under Milk Wood tells the story of a Welsh seaside village with its vivid and colourful characters and is in turn funny. touching and delightful. In Under Milk Wood powerful forces operate beneath the calm exterior of a town which has "fallen head over bells in love". There are the secret fantasies of Gossamer Beynon who feels Sinbad Sailor's "goatbeard tickle her in the middle of the world", Mr Pugh who imagines concocting "a fricassee of deadly nightshade" to poison his wife and Jack Black who chases sinning couples from the wood with his big stick..... Each relationship is governed by peculiar rules of love and many of them are frustrated by their sometimes explicit desires.

In this new Island production, two exceptional actors play more than 50 characters between them, as they celebrate life, living and loving in this wonderful feast for the senses. Please note that this show may not be suitable for a younger audience and Parental Guidance is advised. Belltable Arts Centre, 69 O'Connell St., Limerick

The ev+a Mission Statement:
" ev+a, a collaboration among artists, curaotrs , sponsors, workers and committee members, presents yearly to audiences of and in Limerick the testimony that the best of contemporary art offers for the assessment, understanding and celebration of the contemporary culture that surrounds us".

The ev+a Story:
A group of Limerick Artists began ev+a in 1977 as a way of bringing their work as contemporary artists into mutual closer encounters with audiences so that, together, sense and meaning could be made in and of the world all shared. More than two decades on ev+a is still an artist centred exhibition and has become Rep. Of Ireland's premier annual exhibition of contemporary art. It now offers a wide ranging program of events that integrate local, national and international audiences in a communal celebration of contemporary art and culture. ev+a has steadily increased its programmes from Open ev+a (1997), to Young ev+a (1986) and Invited ev+a (1994), a biennial that alternates with the ev+a Colloquies on Contemporary Art and Culture (1997).

Is Iomaí Slí

Children’s Theatre. Graffitti Theatre Company presents As Gaeilge. Is Iomaí Slí. By Bairbre de Barra.

This is a play about a small stone that is going around on his own in search of company and family. However, he’s not alone on the road. He meets different groups: scissors, papers and stones. But who will be his friend? And who will be his enemy? Is Connchubhar the Stone different from everybody? Is that a bad thing or a good thing? Can Connchubhar bring the groups together and reconcile the differences between them? A challenging journey but a journey with a prize. Based on the game ‘Paper, Scissors, Stone’, this charming musical play looks in an entertaining way at the communities and how they need to live together in a diverse and inclusive society.

Is Iomaí Slí is a new play from talented Irish writer Bairbre de Barra. It was commissioned by Graffiti as Gaeilge and Cork 2005: European Capital of Culture as part of Graffiti Theatre Company’s production for Irish speaking 7-9 year olds.
