A
Christmas Carol and Santa's Magical Journey
What
better way to treat the little ones in your life or school this Christmas
than a trip to LIT Millennium Theatre for these two delightful seasonal
plays, A Christmas Carol and Santa’s Magical Journey.
The
Talisman Theatre Company gets into the spirit of the season with its
production of A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, the heart-warming
classic tale about the miser Ebenezer Scrooge, whose sole pursuit
of financial success has left him a bitter and lonely old man. However,
Christmas Eve visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and
Future teach him to open his heart to the spirit of Christmas and
to the joy of family and friends. This charming production plays down
the dark passages of Dicken’s original work, and makes it particularly
suitable for children and school groups. With a superb set, lavish
costumes and beautifully sung carols A Christmas Carol is an absolute
delight.
It’s
Christmas Eve, and Polly Greenjeans is busy getting ready, preparing
her Magic House to give Santa and his reindeers a big seasonal welcome
in Santa and his Magic Sleigh. The weather is terrible and Rudolf
is struggling to guide Santa’s sleigh, and is forced to crash
land close to Polly’s house. The sleigh is badly damaged, and
even worse, horror of horrors, Santa is injured. Can Polly cure Santa,
and repair the sleigh in time? This is a colourful entertaining show
with wonderful toe-tapping Christmas songs, both new and old, and
best of all, everyone gets to join in and sing along.
€12.50.

ISLAND
THEATRE COMPANY SCHOOLS PLAY CHALLENGE
The
Island Theatre Company Schools' Play Challenge now in its sixth successful
year, is underway again. Already, a large number of entries have been
received from Primary Schools across the Region.
Young
students are in the midst of writing short plays on the theme "RACE
AGAINST WASTE", in December they will get an opportunity to perform
their plays at the Belltable in Limerick. Island is sending a teacher's
support pack to each School involved in the project, and Island will
also give a drama workshop at the School to help pupils and teachers
on their way.
The
idea behind the Challenge is to enable schools from the Mid West to
perform their own productions at the Belltable Arts Centre in Limerick.
The dates for the Challenge are 14th & 15th December 2004, tying
in with the final week of school before Christmas, and enabling Schools
to perform their play as part of their own school's Christmas events.
