Hunt Museum
The Hunt Museum is housed in the tastefully restored Old Custom House. This is the finest 18th-century building in Limerick. The facade is a reduced copy of the Petit Trianon at Versailles. The Museum is located on the bank of the River Rutland.
Housed in the museum are some of the finest ancient, medieval and modern treasures found in Ireland. They include antiquities and art objects from Europe and Ireland. Ancient Irish metalwork, medieval bronzes, ivories, and enamels. There is a shop and a restaurant in the museum that make it a very enjoyable day out.

King John's Castle
The castle is strategically built on the bank of the River Shannon. It was built to guard and administer the rich Shannon region. The castle is a major part of Limerick’s historic background. It dates back to 1210. It is one of the oldest examples of medieval architecture in Ireland. It has rounded gate towers and curtain walls. It also has an impressive façade and battlement walkways along the castle’s walls and towers. You can get a fantastic view of the city from here. It is also floodlit at night offering a quite spectacular sight.

Limerick City Gallery of Art
Limerick City Gallery of Art was founded in 1948 as a purpose built gallery addition to the Carnegie Free Library and Museum, a 1906 Neo-Hiberno-Romanesque styled building adjacent to the Peoples Park and the Georgian styled Pery Square, Limerick. Now all the building is used as exhibition space and recently a new South Wing Gallery was added. LCGA houses a fine Permanent Collection of works by early 18th, 19th and 20th century Irish artists, which encourages one to trace the development of modern Irish art in painting, sculpture and drawing. The collection, begun in 1948, continues to grow each year. The gallery also hosts exciting contemporary exhibitions by Irish and International artists including the widely known ev+a exhibition.

Limerick Museum
The Limerick Museum shows a concise insight to Limerick history. On display is information on Limerick’s archaeology, natural history, and civic treasures. There are also many traditional crafts such as silver, furniture, printing and lace. There are also many historical paintings, maps, prints and photographs. Of particular interest are the city's original charters from Oliver Cromwell and King Charles II and the civic sword presented by Queen Elizabeth I.

St. Mary's Cathedral
St. Mary’s Cathedral is the oldest building in Limerick. The cathedral was founded in 1172 by Donal Mor O’ Brien King of Munster. He donated it for use as a church. There is a Romanesque doorway, grand tombs, memorial stones and splendid black oak misericords. There are also support ledges for choristers, dating from around 1489, carved with pictures of animals and other figures.

Adare Heritage Centre
In the centre of the village is this great heritage centre. It is housed in a stone building with a traditional courtyard. There is a short audiovisual presentation to help you make sense of the ruins scattered around the area. The model shows the village in 1500 and is really worth a look. The centre also houses a cafe, craft shop, knitwear shop, and library.

Foynes Flying Boat Museum
During the 1930s and early 1940s, the Port of Foynes was the fulcrum point for air traffic between the United States and Europe. From the first probing flights which ventured out over the Atlantic to the regular scheduled crossings during wartime, Foynes was a hive of activity as passengers came and went to destinations all over the world.The famous flying boats were frequent visitors, carrying a diverse range of people, from Royality to refugees. Although Ireland was neutral during the war, many service personel travel through foynes on their ways to and from the fronts.The Foynes Museum recalls this era with a comprehensive range of exhibits, graphic illustrations and an audio-video show.In preparation are the lists of passengers who travelled through both going East or West. For aviation buffs, this museum is a must.

Glin Castle
Glin Castle, one of Ireland’s most historic properties, has been in the FitzGerald family, hereditary Knights of Glin, for over 700 years. The castle with its superb interiors, decorative plasterwork, and collections of Irish furniture and paintings, stands on the bank of the River Shannon surrounded by formal gardens and parkland and in the middle of 500 acres of wood and dairy farm. One hour’s drive from Shannon airport, half an hour from Ballybunion championship golf course and within easy reach of three other such courses, including the new Greg Norman links course, Doonbeg. The Ring of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula and the wonders of Co Clare including the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren (via the nearby car ferry) make Glin a superb centre for exploring southwest Ireland. There is a craft shop and cafe. In addition, quite royal accommodations can be arranged for €280 to €440, with an additional €47 per person for dinner.

Irish Palatine Heritage Centre
Preserving the history of the Irish Palatines for future generations. It reflects the history of several hundred Palatine families who emigrated from Germany and settled in this part of Ireland in 1709. There is an extensive display of artefacts, photographs and graphics. In addition, the museum seeks to illustrate the Palatines' innovative contributions to Irish farming life and their formative role in the development of world Methodism.
Since its inception in 1989 the Irish Palatine Association has endeavoured to preserve the rich heritage of Irish Palatine culture by encouraging and developing a sense of identity among Palatine families and their descendants, wherever they live in the World.

Lough Gur Visitor Centre
Lough Gur is a small horseshoe shaped lake south of Limerick city. It is one of Ireland’s principal archaeological sites. The site was continuously occupied from the Neolithic period to late medieval times. There are dwellings dating back to 500 – 1000 AD. There is a wedge tomb dating back to 2500 BC. Also there is the Grange Stone Circle, the largest and most remarkable of its kind in Ireland. There's free access to the lake, shores and pleasant parkland, which is perfect for picnics.
