Romeo and Juliet
Two household both alike in dignity / In fair Limerick where we lay
our scene / From ancient grudge break to new mutiny / Where civil
blood makes civil hands unclean.
Romeo and Juliet casts the youth and innocence of the title characters
against the forces of family honour, violence and criminality. Faithful
to Shakespeare’s beautiful and timeless script, Limerick Youth
Theatre set this tale of star-crossed lovers in our own feud-torn
city. Usually performed by adults, although the lovers are in their
mid-teens, Ciarda Tobin directs a cast of talented young actors in
this dynamic and relevant production.
