sculpture, drawing and print-making, Bourgeois has created some of
the most powerful and memorable work of our time in a career that has
spanned over 60 years. Exhibiting since 1949, major recognition came
later in her life at the age of 72, with her first retrospective at
the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1982. Butler Gallery, The
Castle.

to October 12

of artists from Taiwan, USA, France, Ireland and Wales. National
Craft Gallery, Castle Yard.

100 years experience between them. The McCrory’s of Northern Ireland

Gallery, Castle Yard.

to November 3
New Ground
By Bernard Queally. ‘In the Renaissance the horse was a symbol of
power. Today America is the great superpower. The work was
influenced by the war in Iraq. Invading armies. Charioteers of old
as stretched limousines of today used by ruling elite. The transport
of kings. American cinema, global conquests. Iconic images. A
pairing down of form.’ Open: Mon-Fri 10am-7pm; Sat 2pm-7pm. Watergate
Theatre, Parliament Street.

Theatre

October 8
The Sauce Boss
The Sauce Boss combines the blues with his hot sauce in a big pot of
gumbo, made right on stage. Singing the recipe, he mixes music with
cooking. At the end, everyone eats. 8pm. Tickets: f16, 12.50. Box
Office: 056 7761674. Watergate Theatre, Parliament Street.

October 12
My Father’s Life
A new play by John MacKenna, the story of John Clare, the English
peasant poet who spent the last twenty-four years of his life in an
asylum. It’s also the story of Sophy Clare, his daughter, and her
search for love in the shadow of her father’s illness. And it’s the
story of an Irish inmate in the 19th century asylum, a man for whom
home is but a dream, a man with a gift from Jesus. The three inter-
related stories bring elements of love, passion and laughter together
in a moving and beautiful play. 8pm. Tickets: f12.50/10. Box Office:
056 7761674. Watergate Theatre, Parliament Street.

October 19 to 21
Way to Heaven
By Juan Mayorga, translated by David Johnston. Presented by
Galloglass Theatre Company. Based on a real life incident which took
place in a concentration camp during World War II, Way to Heaven is
undeniably relevant and chillingly resonant in today’s world of
embedded war correspondents and the political spin doctor. An Irish
Red Cross volunteer tours the Jewish “Civilian” camp in Nuremberg to
report on the conditions of the “dwellers”. He finds a flawless,
picturesque settlement. But how this deception, involving hundreds of
obedient Jews, is created and maintained by a determined Nazi
Commandant, is the play’s real and devastating concern. 8pm (Thurs &
Sat), Friday daytime only. Tickets: f16/12.50 (schools: f8). Box
Office: 056 7761674. Watergate Theatre, Parliament Street.

October 25 to 28
