An Trial (The Trial)
This is a courtroom drama set in small-town Ireland in the early sixties
with the audience as cast and jury. Mairéad Ní Ghráda's
stark and deeply
affecting play deals with the story of Máire, the sheltered
daughter of a devout widow, who becomes pregnant by the local married
schoolteacher. With his story of marriage to a dying wife who was
unable to ever be a Oproper wife' to him, Padhraic easily seduces
Máire. She flees to Dublin where,
against all odds, she attempts an independent life for herself and
her daughter, whilst awaiting Padhraic. 11am & 2pm, tickets: €10.
