Number.colour
A series of paintings that deal with number, colour and figure/frame
relationships. Each piece is broken into segments and bands. The number
of segments and bands is dictated by a mathematical model. The mathematical
model also dictates the number of colours to be used and the colour
placement. The overall shape of the work is also governed by mathematical
rules. Watergate Theatre.

Moll
By John B. Keane. When a presbytery gets a new housekeeper itbecomes
like a country that gets a change of government, or like a family
that gets a new stepmother. Moll Kettle would work for no less than
a canon for, in her own words, “Tis hard to come back to the
plain black and white when one is used to the purple.” 8pm,
tickets: €15/12, Mon 8th & Tue 9th all seats €10. Booking

The Castlecomer Jukebox
By Jimmy Murphy. The Castlecomer Jukebox are a band, one of Irelands
greatest with links back to the showband era, now on their last legs
– reduced to a summer stint at a midlands hotel. This however
is going to be no ordinary summer – the President of the United
States of America is coming to stay and the Castlecomer Jukebox are
top of the bill. The band can relive some of their former glory and
find a new lease of life with the cameras of the world looking on.
There is of course a price to pay – a price that questions their
loyalty and their very reasons for being a band – for playing
on. Red Kettle continue their commitment to new writing and bring
this hugely entertaining play to life with great drama and music featuring
a first rate cast that includes Mick Lally as ‘Ginty’
and Honor Heffernan as ‘Rio’ –the band’s singer.
8pm, tickets: €15, €12.50 (conc.). Booking on 056 7761674.

Comedy
March 25 to 28
Tommy Tiernan ‘Cracked’
Tommy performs with the casual ease of a natural raconteur, but the
appearance belies an almost fretful perfectionism. He never writes
anything down. He works ceaselessly on the style of his delivery,
and he has an active interest in the mechanics of comedy in all its
many manifestations. He is a craftsman. Tiernan is a dynamic, passionate,
engaging performer, with a charismatic presence and a taste for finding
a lively physical expression to enhance the comic impact of his act.
The Stage commented: “when Tiernan is on fire, his tales seem
imbued with a brand of Irish humour, insight and an eye for surreal
detail of which Flann O’Brien and Samuel Beckett would have
been proud. And no mistake”. 8pm, tickets: €22.50. Booking
on 056 7761674. Watergate Theatre.
