VISUAL ART
July & August
‘From Here to There’ - Endangered
This exhibition consists of a wide range of artists working across
the disciplines of painting, sculpture, installation, video and sound
works. All artists are a part of Endangered Studios, which were born
from within the rust of the Chadwicks building on the Hebron Road
in
Kilkenny in 2003, an initiative of Kilkenny County Council Arts
Office. Following the demolition of the former site in 2005 the
nomadic group accessed space within the Maltings building from which
they have not only produced work for this show but also managed a
series of ground breaking educational workshops. Moving on from a
highly successful show in the 2004 Arts festival, artists from the
group return with new works over two venues. Watergate Theatre and
No. 72, John Street.
to July 30
Sous le Soleil
du Nord
Selected works from 1998-2006 by Blaise Drummond from his recent solo
exhibition at Musée de L’Abbaye Sainte-Croix, France.
Drummond’s
refined paintings celebrate his great love of the natural world and
its relationship to modern culture. His work attempts to excavate
hope of an abiding natural world, amidst the debris of civilizations
relentless progress. Daily 10.30am-12.45am, 2pm-5pm. Butler Gallery,
Kilkenny Castle.
