The Most Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo And Juliet
By William Shakespeare. Blood in the Alley¹s production is a dramatic modern interpretation of The OMost Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet¹, setting it in a school in 1920¹s Verona where the principal has difficulties keeping his housemasters, Capulet and Montague, in check. Blood in the Alley¹s new production illuminates this ultimate love story, staying true to the original script within the modern setting. The use of an all male cast similar to Shakespeare¹s original company emphasises the comedy of language and situations inherent within the tragedy. Some of the issues, like the intervention of church and state, achieve a greater clarity when the comedy is highlighted by the cross dressing and gender swapping of the key roles. Performance Schedule: Wed 10: 10.30am & 8pm; Thurs 11: 10.30am & 2pm; Fri 12: 10.30am, tickets: f19/22/25 (+ f2 booking fee). Box Office: 4270022. Cork Opera House.
