has been a strong believer in the practice of drawing from the nude
and some fine examples are included in this show. Gallery open 11-7

Following the success of the exhibition Focus on Drawing in 2001,
curator Jim Savage has assembled a touring exhibition From Landscape
an exhibition of 29 large-scale landscape drawings by artists working
in Ireland today. The aims of the exhibition are two-fold: to propose
the enduring relevance of landscape imagery by exploring its current
contemporary diversity; and equally to celebrate and encourage that
most primal quality of all art practices: Drawing. Artists featured
include John Shinnors, Stephen McKenna, Jill Dennis, Barrie Cooke,
Martin Gale and Brian Bourke. Crawford Art Gallery, Emmet Place.

James Barry
Last chance to visit the James Barry (1741-1806) exhibition, perhaps
the most significant artist to have been born and trained in Cork.
Much of his works reflect the history and politics of his own times,
as well as the classical art of Greece and Rome. The strong moral
and social content in his paintings show him to be an early Neo- Classicist,
yet his life was thwarted by a strong romantic temperament, an argumentative
nature and financial misfortune. Crawford Art Gallery, Emmet Place.
