JOURNEYS
Mayfield Community Arts Centre, will be to transforming the entire building of the Triskel Arts centre into an extravaganza of light and colour. On ground floor you can enter ‘Weaving on Water’ a magical installation of water and light. Upstairs and you will find an installation ‘Journey of light’ featuring drawing and paintings, light boxes, sculptures and projections created by the group. On the top floor an exhibition of work by 4 invited women artists - Belgian artist, Anny Servais and Lorna Corrigan from KCAT Kilkenny will exhibit alongside up and coming local artists Aoife Lovett and Rita Guinan from Cork. Tom Crean - Arctic Explorer
Written & perfomed by Aidan Dooley. Fringe First Award Winner-2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Tom Crean, the intrepid Antarctic Explorer and one of Ireland’s unsung heroes, is brought to life in this dramatic and humorous solo performance by Aidan Dooley. 8pm. Tickets: f25/18. Lifeboat
On Friday the 13th of September 1940, a ship set sail from Liverpool for Canada carrying ninety young evacuees from the relentless bombing of war-torn Britain. Four days into the crossing the ship was torpedoed and sank, killing all but eleven of the evacuees. Two girls spent 19 terrifying hours in the water on an upturned lifeboat. They willed each other to survive. Lifeboat is their extraordinary true story of courage, survival and enduring friendship. 8pm. Tickets: f10 plus f2.50 booking fee. Box Office: 4270022.
