As If In A Dream Dreamt By Another
By David Jacques. ŒAs if in a dream, dreamt by another¹
comprises a series of twenty four portraits of migrant peoples, rendered
in acrylic paint onto silk banners. Twelve works relate to migrant
stories from Liverpool and the artist then went on to create 12 new
migrant stories from Dublin. As part of a new residency at Triskel,
David Jacques will be commissioned to create a further two works in
Cork , working with Cork based immigrants to Cork to complete the
series of banners for ŒAs if in a dream, dreamt by another¹

An installation piece by Aissa Lopez, a 2004 BA sculpture graduate
from Crawford. Aissa won the Cork Film Centre¹s award of Crawford
graduates. The show will run for a couple of weeks and is Aissa¹s

Figure and Ground
An exhibition at the Crawford Municipal Art Gallery, consisting of
80 drawings and watercolours spanning three centuries including among
others works by Rembrandt van Rijn, Vincent van Gogh, Pieter Mondriaan,
Jan van Goyen, Hendrick Avercamp. The exhibition will explore how
artists, while separated by different centuries, are united by underlying
concerns or values - pragmatism, honesty, an appreciation of landscape,
a sense of structure or geometry underlying the landscape, and an
understanding of the close relationship between mankind and nature.

The Magic of Masks and Puppets
Scottish Mask & Puppet Centre, Scotland¹s primary venue,
gallery, training centre and resource in the field of puppetry has
compiled an exhibition chronicling the history of the world¹s

This display includes shadow puppets from Greece, Turkey and Indonesia,
Wayang Golek rod puppets from Java, Rajasthani marionettes, giant

A video installation by the American artist Kerry Tribe. The installation
shows an interview between an older man who remains off the camera,
the British filmcritic Peter Wollen, and a thoughtful ten year old

The Plough and the Stars
By Sean O¹Casey. O¹Casey¹s remarkable classic depicts
Dublin tenement life during the 1916 Rising through the eyes of such
legendary characters as Bessie Burgess, Mrs Gogan, The Young Covey,
Fluther Good and Rosie Redmond, who ignite the play with their banter,
rancour and humour until tragedy strikes and the full horror and waste
of the fight for freedom is realised. The Plough and the Stars combines
political complexities and moral insights in a powerful and effecting

Figaro¹s Wedding | Le Nozze di Figaro
Opera 2005 was established under Artistic Director Kevin Mallon in
response to Cork's designation as European Capital of Culture. Le
Nozze di Figaro (Mozart), directed by Michael Hunt, is its first full-scale
production. The jealous Count Almaviva tries to prevent the marriage
of the maid, Susanna, to his valet, Figaro. From brilliant overture
to joyous finale, Figaro¹s Wedding is an incomparable masterpiece

Institute for Choreography and Dance (icd) presents 'Fête de
la Danse', a celebration of the highest quality in contemporary dance

The Cork International Exhibition 1902 - 1903
It was just over a century ago that the eyes of the world were last
drawn to Cork. On May 1, 1902, the ŒCork International Exhibition¹
was formally opened, the brainchild of Edward Fitzgerald. So popular
did it become with visitors and exhibitors from around the world that
